Fused Dichroic Glass by Gem

We create our Gem Fused Glass using two or three layers of dichroic glass, fused together creating different designs, colours and effects (see the images below). The dichroic glass has a transmitted colour and a completely different reflective colour, the two colours shift depending on the angle of view.

We use many different dichroic colours & glass to create beautiful and unique glass jewellery, especially and exclusively for our shop in Richmond.

What is Dichroic Glass?
Dichroic glass is formed by a multi-layer coating of quartz crystal and metal oxides placed on glass using thin film coating. The quartz and oxides are vaporized with an electron beam in a vacuum chamber, this vapour then condenses on the surface of the glass in the form of a crystal structure.
